EXCURSIONS & SIGHTS
FOTEVIKENS MUSEUM
Just outside Höllviken in southwestern Skåne is the unique open-air museum Foteviken. Here you can get a genuine overall experience of the Vikings' everyday life. In the place where the Scanian king Erik Emune defended Scania from the Danes in a bloody battle in 1134, is Sweden's only recreated Viking village. The open-air museum is a living Viking community, completely built with Viking-era materials and techniques. During the summer you may encounter authentic Vikings. You can try living like a real Viking and do their various chores, such as forging Viking jewelry in the smithy, dyeing thread and fabric in the tannery and making your own cheese in the barn.

BIRD-WATCHING
Southwest of Malmö, over Falsterbonäset runs one of northern Europe's most important routes for migratory birds. Every year, about 500 million birds pass through here on their way to Africa, and every autumn thousands of birdwatchers visit the area around Falsterbo lighthouse to take part in the spectacular moving carousel. For those who want a view of the area, Falsterbo Strandbad is recommended. Up on the roof of the modernly magnificent building in black wood, there is a special birdwatching jetty with a view of the mile-long beach, the sea and the vast heath landscape. Binoculars can be borrowed.
GOLF
In southwestern Skåne there are many different golf courses to choose from. Here are suggestions for some of them:
SMYGEHUK
Sweden's southernmost cape - Smygehuk is located east of Trelleborg and is a flat sandy cape surrounded by rocky beaches. Just east of the headland is the town of Smygehamn.
From the beginning, it was the harbor in Smygehuk that was southernmost, but in 2007 Sweden was extended with a lookout platform that you can find right next to the eastern pier arm.
The cape is a well-visited excursion destination and there is an ice cream kiosk, café, fish smokehouse, shops and much more. At the harbor there is a sign with distance indications to some European capitals and to Treriksröset.

SVANEHOLM CASTLE
Svaneholm Castle is located in a beautiful park by Svaneholmssjön, just outside Skurup in southern Skåne. There is a year-round castle restaurant, a museum and various parts of the castle building as well as the smokehouse next door can be rented for parties. The magical location by the water and the beautiful castle make Svaneholm a perfect place for a wedding. In the area there are several hiking trails and a year-round gallery.
TRELLEBORGEN
In the late 1980s, traces of a ring castle from the Viking Age, a so-called trelleborg, were found in the city of Trelleborg.
Trelleborgen as it looks today is a reconstruction of the Viking castle that the Viking king Harald Blåtand had built in the 10th century. A quarter of the castle is built on its original site and is located in the middle of the modern city, it also houses a reconstructed medieval house - also found on the site. Here you can get a guided tour (must be pre-booked) or walk around and look at the high embankments and the dry grave. Outside the castle there is now a Viking farm with associated small buildings. The Viking Museum has a Viking exhibition, a shop and a café.
